Our device turns the process of making music into a collaborative experience where people with different levels of music proficiency can engage with each other. By abstracting the controls of the instrument with various knobs, sensors, and buttons, we are able to level the playing field for all users. Up to four users can explore the instrument together and connect through music. We hope to see music born out of a shared experience that embodies community and represents the creativity of each individual in one piece of music.

the tech

How does it work?

Through intricate interfacing with Max/MSP, our system transforms raw input into a myriad of sonic possibilities, inviting users to explore the boundless realm of musical expression. Each sensor and button input is read by an Arduino, which sends data to Max. Once inside Max, the input data is turned into MIDI messages that Ableton can receive and incorporate into the created sound.
