This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it when you visit synthux.academy or purchase from our store.
1. Who we are
Synthux Instruments operates synthux.academy. We build open-source synthesizers and related instruments. For privacy-related questions, contact us at hello@synthux.academy.
2. Data we collect
Contact and signup data. When you join our community or purchase a product, we collect your name and email address. This is used to send you relevant communications and order confirmations.
Purchase data. Orders placed through our store are processed by Shopify. We receive your name, email, and order details. Payment information is handled entirely by Shopify and is never stored on our servers.
Usage data. With your consent, we collect anonymised data about how you use our site using Google Analytics. This includes pages visited, time on site, and general location (country/city level). No personally identifiable information is shared with Google.
Advertising data. With your consent, we use the Facebook Pixel, which may be used to measure the performance of any campaigns we run and for remarketing. You can opt out at any time via your cookie settings.
3. Cookies
Required cookies keep your cart session active and are necessary for the site to function. They cannot be disabled.
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) help us understand how visitors use the site. These are only set with your consent.
Advertising cookies (Facebook Pixel) may be used for campaign measurement and remarketing. These are only set with your consent.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking "Modify settings" in the cookie banner at the bottom of any page.
4. How we use your data
We use your data to fulfil orders, send community updates and product news (only if you signed up), improve our website and products, and measure advertising performance (with consent only). We do not sell your data to third parties.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies: Shopify (e-commerce and payment processing), Sanity (content management), Encharge (email communications), Google Analytics (website analytics, with consent), Meta Pixel (campaign measurement and remarketing, with consent), and Mux (video hosting).
Cloudflare Turnstile. We use Cloudflare Turnstile on our signup forms to protect against spam and automated abuse. Turnstile may collect hardware and software information such as device and application data, and send it to Cloudflare to determine if the visitor is human. This information is processed in accordance with Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Policy. Turnstile does not use cookies, does not track users across sites, and does not use data for advertising purposes.
6. Your rights
Under GDPR (if you are in the EU/EEA), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to withdraw consent at any time; and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@synthux.academy.
7. Data retention
We retain your email and name for as long as you remain an active subscriber or customer. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
