The project aims to offer a connection between a physical 3D interface and sound design in a synthesizer. The inspiration came from the shape of a sound wave, which changes its shape and, as a result, alters the sound. The emphasis when using the tool is on the experience of searching for the right sound, rather than the final outcome. The user modifies the positions of the tool's joints to reach the desired sound. Each joint is equipped with a motion-sensitive sensor that controls a different parameter in the sound design.

How does it work?

In the project, We used four accelerometer sensors to capture the movement input, one sensor in each joint. From each sensor, we extracted three parameters corresponding to the axes of motion. Using TouchDesigner software, we processed the input which we then linked to Ableton software, where we influenced aspects of sound design. The object itself is made of aluminum tubes connected by flexible joints that allow free movement on one hand, and on the other hand, stability that enables consistency in sound creation.
